The secret to improving fast at anything you do.
An introspective look on why I play the children’s card game, Magic the Gathering.
Succeeding at Magic events doesn't only revolve around how well you can play. Success at events revolve around your mental game as well. Learn to convert and perform under pressure.
After a hot recommendation from Ben Friedman, I decided to give Mono-Red Gift Goblins a try. On paper, this deck looks like a clunky pile of red cards, haphazardly thrown together but when played, it turns into a nasty red deck with the possibility to win any match-up.
I came into GP Seattle extremely unprepared. The last standard tournament I went to was pre "Attune with Aether" ban. I tested Ramp and R/G monsters unsuccessfully and last minute decided to play U/B Midrange with no previous experience to the deck. The overall tournament was a continuous learning experience, with each match giving me a sharper and sharper edge. I ended up finishing 11-3-1 which put me at 35th place in a field of 1,400+ competitors.
